A bit about the book…
Rose by Another Name (officially) released on Friday, September 15th. It is a regency romance novel. Boiled down, it is the story of a young lady, Rose, and her struggles between the love of her sisters and her own happiness.
From the back cover:
Her worth decided over a game of cards, Lady Rosalyn Hayes has accepted her future. She will marry a duke she doesn’t know to protect her sisters’ reputations. But when a year of preparation for her debut vanishes in the blink of an eye, Rose flees her gilded cage in search of unrestrained adventure.
Lord Robert Phillip Clarence, Duke of Brighton, lives a life of debauchery far from his country estate, and even farther from the lady he must marry in order to restore his family’s ancestral lands. But when he is summoned home to meet his future wife, he realizes he hasn’t lived at all.
Rose and Robert do not meet when their eyes lock across a ballroom swathed in candlelight. They do not meet amid fine clothes, genteel manners, debonair charm, and chaperones. They meet, alone, upon Rose’s near death. It is this near-death experience that catapults the two nobles, disguised as servants, towards a romance that seems destined for failure.
They think they know each other. But when their true identities are revealed at a house party, will they live happily ever after or will the ton be shocked to see a lady run?
In other news…
I also had my first book launch party that evening at Limited Edition Studio in Bangor, Maine. It was a lovely little studio and I couldn’t have asked for a better launch!
As is to be expected, I did not sell all the books I ordered. So I’m sitting on… a few! But I’m keeping positive. I’ve got feelers out to lots of independent bookstores in the area (and beyond) and, if all goes well, Rose by Another Name might just find its way out of the boxes and onto the shelves in no time!
Positivity and persistence. That’s my sales strategy.
I’ve been keeping very busy lately. Did you know that there’s a lot that goes in to publishing a novel? There is. SO MUCH. I mean, I knew there was a lot involved when I started this… but woah, it is a lot. But it was all worth it!
Besides publishing Rose by Another Name, I have also been editing the second novel in the Blythe Series, beta-reading, homeschooling my five-year-old daughter and, well, living. I’ve been spending a lot of time at the park, enjoyin
g the wonderful September weather we have been blessed with here in Maine. I have not, however, been doing much writing lately, but I do have the next two novels in this series (book two and three) tentatively finished and awaiting VAST amounts of editing, so I consider that an accomplishment.
But despite all of that, I am finally getting back on a schedule. Thank goodness! And I’ve made it my goal to start posting more regularly with updates on what I’m up to and the progress I am making.
Anyhow, for the sake of keeping this brief, I will bid you farewell… for now.
Thanks for stopping by, and make sure to check back soon for behind-the-scenes photos from my book launch party that you won’t see anywhere else!
Have a great day, everyone! And don’t forget to wish Rose a 1 week FANniversary and post something nice to her hashtag #RosebyAnotherName #FANniversary
